Those who have seen the Film Fresa y chocolate are familiar with the place. Unfortunately, ice cream is still substandard (when there is any at all) and access to the Coppelia parks is subject to long queues that Cubans patiently wait out....

La Guarida is yet another emblematic restaurant of Havana. Situated in the building where Fresa y chocolate was filmed, it has unfrotunately become the victim of its own success: features well-off foreigners, long queues, high prices. But remains one of the most atmospheric places in Havana. We loved also Casa Miglis (Havana Central, with Greek, Cuban and ... Swedish dishes) and Café Laurent(Vedado), Doña Eutemia (Havana Central) while La Vitrola (Havana vieja) is one step beyond everybody else when it comes to breakfast. San Cristobal (where Barack Obama dined when in Havana) was closed...

La Guarida, after hours...

Malecon is the outing place par excellence of the Habaneros.

It gets very atmospheric in the evening...

One week without chocolate

Two weeks without chocolate

And they lived happily ever after (in another country...)

That sums it up quite good...

If you can't shoot nice pics in Cuba, you should throw away your camera and try another sport...

Bad storm coming... We are being initially (very) optimistic. Then drenched...

But we manage to find a cab. With another 6 people, in a car with no windshield swipers. After 2 hours in the rain.

And then a bike taxi to our room without hot water...

Better safe than sorry: Greenhouse, as claustrophobic as it gets!
